HRSC is observing the entire planet with full color, 3D imagery at a resolution of about 10 meters. This 3D imagining capability is one of HRSC's greatest strengths, because it reveals the topography of Mars in full color. Selected areas are imaged by the SRC camera at 2-meter resolution. This yields unprecedented pointing accuracy when combining images at the two different resolutions.
HRSC is operated by
Deutches Zentrum fur Luft und Raumfahrt.
Mars Express is operated by the
ESA Operation Centre (ESOC).
The HRSC Principal Investigator is Prof. Gerhard Neukum, Freie Universität, Berlin, Germany.
